Meet the Mishpucha

Meet Marie Tsion and her family

My family and I joined the educational track of the Kodesh VeChol community in 2017 when our oldest was in kindergarten. We wanted to feel part of a community and were eager to provide him with an education that promotes values of inclusion, equality, diversity, pluralism, in addition to academia – something  we've undeniably found on Kodesh VeChol.

We've since fallen in love with the wonderful people in the community, the vast range of unique and meaningful community events that have since become traditions in for our family, and the multitude of projects and ventures that are being innovated and worked on daily. I’m proud of our ability to form a community within an urban city (even though we are all scattered geographically); I view it as one of the community’s crowning achievements and a result of our collective hard work.

I made Alliyah to Israel in 1991 from the former Soviet Union. Shortly after, my family settled in Holon, and we have been living here ever since. I am an employment relations expert, and I work with various corporations and organizations on labor law matters. I love people, nature, good food, dancing, and traveling in Israel and abroad.

After four years of productive activity and volunteer work in the Parent Teacher Association of the Kodesh VeChold’ educational track, last year I joined the lay leadership of the congregation. There, I volunteer as Kodesh VeChol's legal advisor and lawyer in various issues, and I also serve as a coordinator with Holon’s Municipal government in the establishment and building of the future home of Kodesh VeChol’s synagogue and cultural center in Holon.

I am married to David (age 45), and have 3 kids – Be'eri (age 10), Ahsya (age 7) and Teva (age 2) and we have a dog called Chika.

Be'eri is in 5th grade and attends the community's educational track. His favorite things to do are to read, swim and watch soccer.

Ahsya, in 1st grade, also attends the community's educational track. Her hobbies are playing the piano and drawing.

Teva is 2 years old and he is eagerly awaiting the opportunity to join his older siblings in the a community's educational track next year by attending the pre-school.

Our Favorite Jewish tradition:

Marie: Havdala

David: Seder Pesach

Be'eri: Costumes on Purim

Ahsya: Baking Hamantash and dressing up on Purim

Teva: Drinking tirosh at Kidush
